Randy Hicks - Rocky Mountain Anglers

It has been over fifteen years since I caught that first trout on Boulder Creek, and I still fish the same hole today.  Originally from Virginia, I got wet fishing for smallmouth on the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers.  The ferocious takes of a crazed smallmouth will be etched in my mind forever.   I love fishing Boulder creek and the many diverse streams our local area has to offer.  The hatches on our local waters provide some excellent dry fly fishing and Summer hatches con be downright epic.  Whether it is the South Fork, the Bighorn, the Colorado, or a no named stream at 10,000 feet, my enthusiasm and passion are unrivaled.  I like floating the many rivers the west has to offer and love to throw big foam flies in Wyoming and Montana.   Fly fishing has become more than hobby for me, it is a way of life.  It changes you to be consumed by something.  You look at things differently.  Everything starts to be seen from a trouts perspective and any piece of water in view holds your gaze as if  you are spellbound.  A pod of rising 20 inchers can make your hands tremble, and BIG FISH slow rolling foam dries will make you premature.  No doubt , I get excited about what I do, and I love to fish.  It is my one true passion, the only thing I do, the only thing i want to do. It has not ruined my life; yet, but there is still plenty of time.  We'll see how it goes, but it has been hella fun so far. Cooking and fishing streamers are some of my other passtimes.
