Description
This is a great pattern for most scud filled tail waters. Try using different colors of dubbing for different times in the year. You also might think about finishing the back with UV Knot Sense or Soft-Tex to give it a crustacean appearance.
Materials
Hook: Daiichi 1150 (Sizes 14-18)
Thread: UNI- Thread (6/0 or 8/0)
Wire: UTC Small (Copper, Silver, Black)
Flash: Tinsel Medium Pearl
Shell: Scud Back Clear 1/8
Body: Sow-Scud Dub (Watery Olive, Tan, Amber, Tan Rainbow)

Step 1 Tie in Ostrich Herl into the back of the hook. |  |
Step 2 Clip herl and tie in wire and flash. |  |
Step 3 Add 3-4 inch dubbing loop using dubbing loop tool. |  |
Step 4 Slip dubing between thread in an even layer from the hook to the top of the tool. |  |
Step 5 Twist dubbing loop to secure dubbing and even out the clumps. Wrap tool and loop w/ dubbing clockwise twards the eye of the fly. |  |
Step 6 Tie in dubbing loop and trim excess. |  |
Step 7 Pick out dubbing with Velcro or wire dubbing brush. |  |
Step 8 Lay flash and scud back over to eye and tie materials in at the head of the hook. |  |
