Saint Vrain Creek - North St. Vrain Fishing Report

Low flows of late summer are making for some good dry fly fishing.  Small PMD's are working along with ants and beetles, and smaller hoppers.  There are good hatches of red quills in the sections of the creek off the peak to peak highway, and the drakes are still popping in Wild Basin.  Closer to Lyons the pressure gets heavier but the fishing remains good along CR 80 and HWY 7 alike.  Try small drowned ants on the south or middle forks of the Vrain.  I like a transparant dropped 12 inches below a small PMX or Yellow Stimulator.  Be stealthy for these fish and stay low to the ground to improve your chances.
