South Platte - Cheeseman Fishing Report

The hopper bite was better when the water was higher and the grasses along the bank were flooded a bit more, but the bite is still strong with terrestrials all day.  Put away the nymph rig and fish dry dropper in the faster riffles and along the grassy banks.  Just walking the trail kicks up hoppers by the dozens and the hot days bring them dangerously close to the water.  Mend your hoppers aggressively to make them twitch and kick for the bank.  this movement can trigger shark attacks from lunker rainbows in the canyon that will test your terminal tackle.  with a natural anti freeze in their blood the hopper bite should stay strong until late september.  Pray for the indian summer to keep the hopper bite going strong!!
