RMA Kids Camp's aim is to explore our local waters in a safe and educational manner accomplishing the following goals:
-
Friendships and camaraderie are some of the best rewards from an afternoon of fishing. Participation in the outdoors with friends and the positive experiences that it brings are an important lesson we instill at RMA kids camp.
We hope that this lesson provides the basis for many more positive experiences and helps avoid the pitfalls that kids of today contend with.
-
Through a variety of fun activities, both on and off the water, we provide an opportunity for kids to discover the science behind fishing. Often the lessons of the classroom can seem like memorization without experiencing natural events in real life. Fly Fishing provides first hand knowledge of bug life cycles, the factors that create fish habitat, as well as many situations that require the scientific method. Kids camp provides an opportunity to participate in an atmosphere of collaboration to better understand the biotic community as a whole.
-
At kids camp we teach kids to handle both fish and nature with care. Conservation and children represent the future, not just of fishing but wild places as a whole. Whenever possible, we hope to bring awareness to these issues by tour of rearing ponds, practicing "catch and release" and many other lessons.
