Fly Tying Demo - Rocky Mountain Anglers
Fly Tying Demo - Rocky Mountain Anglers

Dates: 3 sessions will be offered in June, July and August each lasting 3 days. Times have yet to be determined but we are planning in 9:00 to 4:00 pm.

Cost: $750.00 per youth

RMA is developing a new youth program this summer to introduce inspired young anglers to our local waters in a safe and educational manner. The RMA summer camp will offer youth between the ages of 12 and 16 the opportunity to learn the basics of fly fishing in a fun group environment. The camp will be divided into groups of four youths based on age and experience and cover all of the basics of fly fishing. Young anglers that have prior experience fishing will be grouped together and provided a more advanced curriculum.

Activities Include: familiarizing ones self with fly fishing equipment, instructional casting, guided fishing, bug collecting, fish habitat seminars, getting in touch with our rivers (the importance of keeping the river pristine), day hikes, knot tying, tying flies, introductory entomology, swimming, float tube fishing (lake fishing).

The typical day will include a variety of activities and instructional lessons in the morning followed by casting and on the water guided fishing in the afternoons. Small groups are the key to this learning experience. The goal of RMA Fishing Camp is to provide each camper with a deeper understanding of the joy of fly fishing and all of the information necessary to fish independently.

The class will include a photo book on CD of all of the activities that the kids partake in over the week. In addition campers will enjoy discounted purchases on any in-store items that are not already on sale.

What To Bring: Rods, reels, waders and basic equipment and flies will be provided in the class. We recommend that campers come equipped with lunch, polarized sunglasses, raingear, sunscreen, water, snacks, bathing suite and a great additude!
